Bishops' Statement on Euthanasia
Often we only hear one side of the debate around euthanasia, which omits or downplays the risks it presents to society. Our bishops have released a statement titled ‘The Dangers of Euthanasia’ which outlines many of these risks. Available on line www.catholic.org.nz under ‘Bishops’ Statements’

Directory of Self-Employed Parishioners!   This is a free service to help self employed parishioners. If you would like to be included, then please let the Parish Office have your business card and/or relevant details of the service/s you offer. The sooner you contact us, the sooner  you can be included in the directory. ProLife Facts
In their media release on 30 December 2011, Right to Life referred to the Abortion Supervisory Committee’s report to Parliament for 2011. Right to Life was pleased with the news that the number of certifying consultants for the year ending 30 June 2010 had reduced by 21. There were 175 consultants registered in 2010, compared to 196 registered in 2009. The approval of two certifying consultants is required to authorise abortion. A consultant receives a fee of $135 for each consultation with a woman seeking an abortion. The Abortion Supervisory Committee reported that fees to consultants totalled $4,551,929 (GST exclusive) for the year ending 30 June 2011. The highest paid consultant receives $138,915 for approving 1028 abortions while declining only one. For more info on pro-life issues, visit the Right to Life website www.righttolife.org.nz
